Angular contact ball bearing

Angular contact ball bearing

Angular contact ball bearings carry both radial and axial loads. Their inner and outer ring raceways are designed to be opposite each other in the direction of the bearing axis. Angular contact ball bearings are recommended for applications with medium to high radial loads and low to medium axial loads. They are typically used in industrial gearboxes, pumps and compressors.

Product Classifications of Angular contact ball bearing

Single Row Angular Contact Bearings

These single row angular contact bearings are suitable for general use where axial loads are applied in only one direction. They are stand-alone bearings and are not designed to be combined or mated with another bearing.

Single Row Angular Contact Bearings

Matched Angular Contact Bearings

These single row angular contact bearings can be used alone or matched with a second bearing to form a duplex bearing. They are suitable for general purpose applications where the axial load is in one direction only.

Duplex Angular Contact Bearings

Duplex bearings are two matched bearings that provide precise alignment both radially and axially. By using duplex bearings, vibrations can be eliminated and higher load capacities can be achieved. Longer service life and higher system reliability can be achieved by using controlled stiffness within the duplex bearing.

Double Row Angular Contact Bearings

Double row angular contact ball bearings can withstand radial and axial loads and overturning moments in either direction, and their design is similar to two single row bearings placed back to back. Two single bearings usually take up too much axial space.

High Clearance Double Row Angular Contact Bearings

High clearance double row angular contact ball bearings have more space in the bearing housing. They are useful when there is an increased press fit on the housing, when increased temperatures may cause expansion or when there is a slight misalignment between the housing and the shaft. Double-row bearings make it possible to use them as matched single bearing sets in back-to-back or duplex arrangements while saving space on the shaft.

High-Precision Angular Contact Bearings

These high precision angular contact ball bearings are used in high speed applications where tighter tolerances are required to reduce vibration. They are typically used in machining tools and precision equipment such as CNC routers.

FAQ

Angular contact ball bearings have different outer ring thicknesses on the marked and unmarked surfaces. This is due to the contact angle between the outer ring and the ball. Deep groove ball bearings have the same thickness on both sides of the outer ring. In addition, the ACBB has the designation 7xxx and the DGBB has the designation 6xxx.

Double-row ACBBs can carry axial loads in both directions, but they have a limited contact angle. The ACBB configuration or multiple single-row ACBBs can only carry axial loads in one direction, depending on how they are combined. However, these options are not limited in terms of contact angle, allowing customised selection to best match the ratio of radial to axial load. In addition, the clearance and accuracy of the ACBB arrangement is controlled as a group, resulting in a consistent level of vibration/noise and rotational accuracy. However, the use of two individually controlled single rows of ACBBs can lead to significant changes in their resultant characteristics when combined.

As the name implies, the balls and outer ring in an ACBB are in diagonal contact depending on the contact angle. A larger contact angle increases the angular contact between the balls and the outer ring, which affects the limiting speed and load carrying capacity.
