Personnel working in a large steel plant may notice that during the maintenance of mechanical equipment in the steel plant, they will see fag bearing on the machinery. The bearing may be spiral roller bearing. Spiral roller bearing has large elasticity and radial clearance, can bear large impact radial load, can not bear axial load, and the limit speed is low.
It is only applicable to components with low rotation accuracy and often large impact load. The bearing rolling system adopts spiral roller wound by steel belt. Therefore, this kind of bearing is commonly used in large steel mills.
The bearing inner ring and outer ring are rolled by alloy steel strip and processed and assembled by special process. The spiral gap on the surface of the inner and outer rings of the bearing can make the lubricating oil continuously and evenly spread over the working surface of the bearing. The bearing works under the working condition of large temperature difference, and the matching size of the bearing can be automatically compensated.
The inner and outer rings of the spiral roller ina bearing are thin-walled and have no retaining edge. The complete set of rollers of its ferrule and cage can be installed separately. It is a separable bearing. The spiral roller bearing can only bear radial load, not axial load. The bearing has low limit speed and is suitable for parts with high impact load. When installing the bearing, the axis of the inner ring and the axis of the outer ring are allowed to have an inclination of 0.5 °. Due to the elastic deformation of this kind of bearing, the accuracy can not be guaranteed in work, so the accuracy of spiral roller bearing is only ordinary level, and there is no other precision level.
Process of spiral roller bearing:

1. This kind of bearing is made of spring steel. The annealing temperature of spring steel is 3500c. Therefore, its temperature sensitivity is worse than that of ball bearing steel (100c6) with annealing temperature of 1800C. When the temperature reaches above the tempering temperature, the material will extremely lose its hardness. Therefore, spring steel is more suitable for high temperature operation.
2. The spring steel has good elasticity, so it is easy to install. The inner ring can be installed at any position with the help of two hook wrenches, and the internal tension of the inner ring can fasten it on the shaft. It is easy to process the inner ring with tolerance of H9 or h1l with elastic material.
3. This NSK bearing is durable and is not affected by dirt, iron filings, water and weak acid formed by falling iron powder and water. The thin-walled spiral ring leaves a large space for the rolling parts with large diameter. These parts can press dirt and foreign substances into the spiral gap of the spiral ring by rolling. This keeps the moving surface of the bearing clean during rotation.
4. The main advantage of spiral bearing is that the outer ring can be reused many times, which makes it possible to rework it once it is damaged and bent due to temperature. In this case, the bearing pedestal also needs to be adjusted. In this structural design, only the spiral outer ring rather than the whole bearing needs to be changed, and all other bearing parts can be reused.
The adjustment of the bearing pedestal is carried out by increasing the diameter dimension by 1mm. For example, when the inner diameter increases from 105mm to 106mm, the outer diameter of the spiral outer ring also needs to be increased by LMM for installation. This situation can be repeated until the diameter reaches 110mm.
In this way, the bearing outer ring can be processed five times. This can save a lot of cost, especially when all other bearing parts can be reused for 6 times.
When the working temperature of spiral roller bearing exceeds 120 ℃, the bearing parts will lose the original dimensional stability. Therefore, special requirements can be put forward for the bearing with working temperature higher than 120 ℃, and the bearing with special heat treatment can be selected.
